Surviving as a freelancer

Awesome post by Kris Rusch — The Freelancer’s Survival Guide — the beginning of a series of posts of a work in progress. Her posts aren’t just for writers but for consultants or eBay sellers or anyone else who wants — or has been forced by circumstances — to make a living as a freelancer.

I’ve been in day job land, working for someone else, ever since I graduated from high school. The longest time I’ve taken off my day job was for maternity leave umpteen million years ago, and trust me, a person on maternity leave is still working for someone else. Writing is my second job. My goal is to flip the two, and eventually phase out the day job. You can bet I’m going to be reading each and every one of Kris’s posts.
