Good Cheer Holiday Bundle!

I’m in a great new Storybundle just in time for the holiday season – the Good Cheer Holiday Bundle!

My contribution is the Diz and Dee Holiday Mysteries, which includes a Thanksgiving mystery you won’t find anywhere else.

This bundle was put together by Dean Wesley Smith. He has fantastic things to say about the ten books in this bundle here, but I want to point out this part:

“And then finally, the best of the best of the best. The Santa Claus Stories by L. Frank Baum. (Yes, the Wizard of Oz L. Frank Baum.) This was edited, with all the original art, by James Romag and somehow published by Wordfire Press and guided by Kevin J. Anderson. A massive task and a book that you should not miss.

“Santa Claus and many of our Christmas traditions came from these stories. Of course, lots of sources before these stories contributed, and Coke ads after these stories refined what we think of Santa Claus in looks. But the L. Frank Baum stories were the center of it all. And James Romag, in his introduction, lays it all out for you.

“This book is an amazing treat to read this holiday.” — Dean Wesley Smith

You can get The Santa Claus Stories along with the other nine book in this bundle for as little as $15 plus you can contribute to AbleGamers, our fantastic charity!

Because this is a special holiday bundle, and we probably all need a little extra holiday cheer this year, this bundle’s available for a longer period of time — another twenty-eight days.

The Good Cheer Holiday Bundle will not only make a great gift to yourself, but also a great gift to give to the readers in your life.

Bundles!

Bundles galore!

I’m participating in not one, not two, but three terrific Storybundles going on right now!  If you’re looking for some great reading to keep your mind occupied with all the craziness going on in the world, look no further!

I love a good mystery, and the Mysterious Women bundle features ten of them!  Well, more than ten since a couple of the books in this bundle are story collections.  All the books are by kickass women writers.  My contribution is Paper Bullets, the second book in my Abby Maxon mystery series.  I’m busy working on the third book — Private Affairs — so this bundle’s a great way to catch up with Abby Maxon. If you haven’t read Protectors by Kris Nelscott or one of Juliet Nordeen’s Modesta Quinn mysteries or Christy Fifield’s Spy Girls stories about female spies in World War II, this is a great opportunity to pick up all these books at a great low price! And you’ll have an opportunity to support a great charity — Able Gamers — by donating a portion of your purchase price (I hope you do).

The Mysterious Women bundle goes away in only 9 days, so don’t delay!

If mystery’s not your thing, or if your tastes run more to science fiction adventure, Kevin J. Anderson’s put together a nifty bundle that’s right up your alley!

I don’t have a book in this bundle, but I do have a story in Snot-Nosed Aliens.  Every story in that book’s a hoot.  Where else could you read a story called “Bushtits Gone Wild”? That’s by Stephanie Writt, by the way, and if you haven’t read any of Stephanie’s stories, you really should.  Snot-Nosed Aliens also includes stories by Michael Warren Lucas, J. Steven York, Dayle A. Dermatis, and David H. Hendrickson, among others.

And if that’s not enough to convince you to pick up the Far, Far Away Adventure SF Bundle, which goes away in only 16 days, this bundle also includes a great Retrieval Artist novel by Kristine Kathryn Rusch – Recovery Man’s Bargain (I love the Retrieval Artist series!), an awesome Thunder Mountain novel by Dean Wesley Smith – Lake Roosevelt, and a beautiful new edition of H. G. Wells’ The Complete War of the Worlds!  The 13 books in this bundle are well worth the low Storybundle price. Plus, you can support The Challenger Center for Space Exploration by donating a portion of your purchase price to this great charity!

~~~
But what if you have a young reader at home who’s jonesing for something to read?  And if your budget’s tight (like most of us) and you’re looking for a great bargain, look no further than the YA Megabundle!
This bundle’s special.  Thanks to all the amazing writers and the fine folks at Storybundle, you can pick up the 28 books in this bundle for whatever you want!  Plus, we’ve set the minimum price for this bundle at the ridiculously low price of one dollar.  If you’re in a position to pay a little more, that’s great, and here’s why: half of the profits from this bundle are going to Mighty Writers, a non-profit organization benefitting children’s literacy that’s also working in food security outreach right now with the disadvantaged population it serves.
The YA Megabundle features books by NYT and USA Today bestselling authors and spans a wide variety of SF/F genres.  My contribution is my superhero origin novel Faster.
Another way this bundle’s special: it’s not going away right away. You’ve got another 53 days to snap this one up, but it’s such a great value, why delay?
Exciting new releases!
Exciting times we live in, right?
A car just drove down my street. I don’t live in a high traffic area, so cars don’t drive down from the top of the hill often, but it made me realize how few cars I’ve seen when I’ve been out and about lately.
Like a lot of people, I’m staying home as much as possible. The last time I ventured out, I went to one grocery store, got there early, found most of what I needed, and came home early.  I tend to be a homebody anyway, but it’s weird staying home because I’m supposed to, not because I want to.
Although the family and I are starting to catch up on a lot of the series we’ve DVR’d. [WTF Evil?? Did you really plan to emasculate a totally great villain or what? Sheesh!]
I know some people are using the down time to catch up on their reading. If you’re like me, you have a huge TBR pile. But what if you don’t? What if you’d like something new to take your mind away from all the craziness of these “exciting” times?
Have I got a deal for you! [cue used car salesman voice]
Now, for a limited time only, Storybundle presents The Cats! Bundle!
Our furry feline friends have not only invaded memes and videos on your social media of choice, now they’ve invaded Storybundle!
[/end used car salesman voice]
Whew! I can only do that just so long.
Seriously, though—I’m really excited to be a part of this bundle. My collection Life With Cats is exclusive to this Bundle, but that’s not the only exclusive I’m in.  I have a brand new cat story in Cat Ladies of the Apocalypse, a spanking new anthology (not available elsewhere) that turns the “boy and his dog” post-apocalyptic tales on their… well, tails.  Plus, I have a story in Fiction River Presents: Cats!, also exclusive to this bundle.
I’ve been a cat person all my life. Haven’t turned into the crazy old cat lady down the street yet, but give me time. If you’re like me and harbor a love, secret or otherwise, for kitties of all flavors, grab this Storybundle today.  For as little as $5, you can get four of the books in this bundle, including Fiction River Presents: Cats!  But for as little as $15, you can get all ten books in this bundle, including not only exclusives like Life With Cats and Cat Ladies of the Apocalypse, but also exclusives by Dean Wesley Smith, Lisa Silverthorne, and Stefon Mears.  None of these books are available elsewhere.
All of the authors in this bundle have not only banded together to bring you great cat stories at a terrific low price, we’re also supporting Able Gamers. We’re stuck inside for what (hopefully) will only be a relatively short time. For most of us, we can read or play video games or otherwise distract ourselves without too much effort. Many disabled folks have to contend with much harsher conditions on a daily basis. Able Gamers helps them participate in online games by providing equipment tailored toward their needs. If you decide to purchase a bundle, I hope you’ll also add a donation to help support Able Gamers. Every dollar counts.
If your reading tastes don’t trend towards cats, or if you’d like your fiction a little more on the dark side, I’ve got a brand new collection just for you!
This collection focuses on shapeshifters of all types.  Changelings. Were-creatures. Beings who live in the shadows, hiding their true selves from the world.
This six-story collection’s available in ebook form for $2.99 US from your favorite distributors.
Freebies, New Releases, and a Great New Bundle!
Boy, there’s a lot of stuff going on around here for a Monday! Let’s dive right into it, shall we?
An astute reader recently asked me where the heck my Free Fiction Thursday stories went. Good question! I’ve been so busy working on new projects that my weekly free stories have fallen by the wayside. But no more! Free fiction rides again, only instead of once a week, I’ll be posting free stories once a month under the Free Stuff tab on this website.
First up is “The Magic of Home,” the first story I wrote for the Uncollected Anthology. “The Magic of Home” introduced Twig, my street-smart elf, and her friend Jocko, the oversized dwarf.  Why did I start out with a Twig and Jocko story?  I’m happy you asked, because I have a brand new release featuring my favorite mismatched elf and dwarf.
UNBROKEN FAMILIAR won’t officially be released until October 1st, but if you’d like to get your copy now, UNBROKEN FAMILIAR is part of the wonderful new The Universe Between Bundle over at StoryBundle!
In addition to UNBROKEN FAMILIAR, this bundle features nine other great fantasy books by some of the best writers working in urban and contemporary fantasy today. Here’s what bundle curator Dean Wesley Smith has to say about the idea behind the bundle:
I grew up on Twilight Zone back in the late 1950s and through the early 1960s. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I heard the sentence, “In the middle ground between light and shadow…” in that opening sequence to the Twilight Zone.
Thankfully, my parents didn’t seem to mind that I watched that show every week. And for some reason that sentence out of the opening sequence stuck with me for my entire life. I loved living in that middle ground. All my writing falls in the middle ground between two places. Every story. Some more obviously than others, but without a doubt, every story or novel that I write, or every book or magazine I edit, falls in the “between” place.
I revel in that, no matter how hard rules tried to force me one way or the other. I liked living there in the middle, in that place between light and dark. With this bundle, I was looking for the very same thing.
This bundle once again features one of my favorite charities, AbleGamers. So not only can you get UNBROKEN FAMILIAR two months early along with nine other great titles for one low price, you can support a nifty charity, too!  Don’t delay, though. StoryBundles are only available for a short time and then they’re gone for good.
~~~

UNBROKEN FAMILIAR is just one of my new releases.  The latest issue of Fiction River – PULSE POUNDERS: ADRENALINE features my story “Dust to Dust.”

Here’s what editor Kevin J. Anderson had to say about “Dust to Dust.”

Annie uses her mystery and fantasy chops to create a heroine with a mission straight from Hell, a ruthless demon bounty hunter with a hole in her heart and a quest from that most horrible of bosses—and she manages to give us a story both edgy and touching.

Nifty, right? PULSE POUNDERS: ADRENALINE is available now in ebook and paper from your favorite online booksellers.

~~~
And last, but certainly not least, the latest issue of the Uncollected Anthology – MYSTICAL MELODIES – just released my new story “The Last Night at the Crowley.”
People say haunted houses contain the longings and nightmares of the dead who couldn’t leave their lives behind.
But what about places where the living left parts of their souls behind? Where singers and musicians willingly played their hearts out, night after night, just for the love of music?
What haunts places like The Crowley?
Mazie’s about to find out.
You can purchase each individual story in MYSTICAL MELODIES from your favorite ebook distributor, or you can purchase the entire issue at one great low price!
That’s right, due to popular demand (and the great folks at BundleRabbit), we ‘re collecting the Uncollected these days. Check it out!
And happy reading!
A Bundle for my Mystery Fans!
First of all, a big THANK YOU to all the folks who made the Moonscapes scifi bundle such a roaring success!  We were able to give AbleGamers a nice chunk of change thanks to you.
But we’re not done yet!
Announcing the DARK CRIMES bundle!
This bundle’s for the mystery fans out there, and a portion of the proceeds also supports AbleGamers. This one’s especially nifty for folks like me who like mystery and crime stories, whether short form or novel length. And the bundle features not only my first Abby Maxon mystery novel PRETTY LITTLE HORSES, but also two of my short stories!  “The Color of Guilt” is part of THE YEAR’S BEST CRIME AND MYSTERY STORIES, and “Jackrabbit DMZ,” a Jill Jordan/Cumberland short story, is part of FICTION RIVER: CRIME.  In fact, for you Cumberland mystery fans, FICTION RIVER: CRIME is the only place you can find this story of Jill Jordan’s early days as a Deputy Sheriff.
What books are in the DARK CRIMES bundle?  Glad you asked!
The initial titles in the Dark Crimes Bundle (minimum $5 to purchase) are:
  • Grim Reaper by O’Neil De Noux
  • Easy Innocence by Libby Fischer Hellmann
  • Spree by Kristine Kathryn Rusch
  • Fiction River Special: Crime by Fiction River
  • Pretty Little Horses by Annie Reed
If you pay more than the bonus price of just $15, you get all five of the regular titles, plus five more!
  • A Trace of Smoke by Rebecca Cantrell
  • Notorious D.O.C. by Melissa Yi
  • Year’s Best Crime & Mystery Stories 2016 by Kristine Kathryn Rusch and John Helfers
This bundle is available only for the next ten days. The books can be read on computers, smartphones, and tablets as well as Kindle and other ereaders via file transfer, email, and other methods. You get multiple DRM-free formats (.epub and .mobi) for all books!
And here’s something else to consider. StoryBundle makes it super easy to give the gift of reading thanks to gift cards – which allow you to send someone a code that they can redeem for any future StoryBundle bundle – and timed delivery, which allows you to control exactly when your recipient will get the gift of StoryBundle. Who wouldn’t enjoy a gift of crime? (Fictional crime, guys. Just fictional crime.)
Why StoryBundle? Here are just a few benefits StoryBundle provides.
  • Get quality reads: We’ve chosen works from excellent authors to bundle together in one convenient package.
  • Pay what you want (minimum $5): You decide how much these fantastic books are worth. If you can only spare a little, that’s fine! You’ll still get access to a batch of exceptional titles.
  • Support authors who support DRM-free books: StoryBundle is a platform for authors to get exposure for their works, both for the titles featured in the bundle and for the rest of their catalog. Supporting authors who let you read their books on any device you want—restriction free—will show everyone there’s nothing wrong with ditching DRM.
  • Give to worthy causes: Bundle buyers have a chance to donate a portion of their proceeds to AbleGamers!
  • Receive extra books: If you beat the bonus price, you’ll get the bonus books
So what do you say, fellow mystery lovers?  Feel like a bunch of great summer reading while you support a wonderful charity?
Remember, this is only available for the next ten days!
I’ve Been Bundled!
You know, one of the neatest things about writing in a bunch of different genres is that every now and then I get invited to participate in fun projects I never would have imagined might come my way.  This brand new Storybundle is one of them.Yup, that’s my book In Dreams right up there in the Moonscapes Bundle alongside titles by Dean Wesley Smith, Kevin J. Anderson, Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Ron Collins, M.L. Buchman, Blaze Ward, Lisa Silverthorne, and Maggie Jaimeson!
If you haven’t heard about Storybundle before, here’s how it works:
The initial titles in the Moonscapes Bundle (minimum $5 to purchase) are:
  • Starflight by Ron Collins
  • The Nara Reaction by M. L. Buchman
  • Recovery Man by Kristine Kathryn Rusch
  • Auberon by Blaze Ward
  • In Dreams by Annie Reed
If you pay more than the bonus price of just $15, you get all five of the regular titles, plus five more!
  • Eternity by Maggie Jaimeson
  • Rediscovery by Lisa Silverthorne
  • Climbing Olympus by Kevin J. Anderson
  • Fiction River: Moonscapes by Fiction River
  • Star Mist by Dean Wesley Smith
Isn’t that nifty? But here’s the really nifty thing.
Part of your purchase price will go to support AbleGamers, a nonprofit organization that enables people with disabilities to enjoy the amazing world of video games. In America alone, over 33 million gamers with disabilities need specialized, custom controllers and assistive technology in order to enter the same virtual worlds as everyone else. Since 2006, AbleGamers has enabled thousands of individuals with disabilities to have a greater quality of life by providing these expensive pieces of assistive technology to children, adults and veterans with disabilities who need help overcoming the social isolation being disabled can bring. AbleGamers has helped tens of thousands of people with disabilities through one-on-one consultation and building a customized solution for each individual, tailored to their specific needs.
When you purchase the Moonscapes Bundle, you’ll be able to read it on your computer, smartphone, and tablet as well as your Kindle or other ereaders via file transfer, email, and other methods. In other words, you get a bunch of DRM-free formats (.epub and .mobi) for all books, so you can take this great package of science fiction books with you wherever you go this summer, and you’ll be supporting a great charity, too!
The Moonscapes Bundle is available only for a limited time. So as they say on TV, don’t delay!
